The popularity of tattoo art has only increased over time. Image Source: Redditĭespite the pain, many people aren't scared to get tattoos. Here’s a visual representation of how painful tattoos are depending on where you get them on your body. And it also plays a significant role in how painful a tattoo is. Tattoo placement is critical to tattoo design and tattoo artists’ work. Tattoos are one way people can express their personal style, and depending on the tattoo placement, tattoos can be hidden or visible. But if you’re looking for some modern influential tattoo artists to follow on Instagram for inspiration, check out Curt Montgomery, Mira Mariah, and Reese Hilburn. You've probably heard of many influential tattoo artists, such as Sailor Jerry and Samuel F. Now that tattoos are less taboo and even welcome in most workplaces, the common consensus around tattoos has shifted. We’re glad to see that these talented artists have finally been getting the credit they deserve for creating permanent works of art on skin. Talented tattoo artists like Indiana-based Kat Von D have been going mainstream and garnering much attention. However, tattooing is quickly becoming a respected art form in many parts of the world. Decades of controversy meant that many tattoo artists struggled to get the credit they deserved. Archaeological evidence suggests that prehistoric cave dwellers were not only painting on cave walls-they were also permanently inking their bodies.ĭespite being practiced around the globe for centuries, tattooing sometimes gets a bad rap. Tattooing is an ancient art form that's been around longer than you might think. Without more precise information about the likely locations of population within these areas, researchers are often forced to assume that populations are uniformly distributed across the entire area of the given census spatial unit. Census blocks therefore provide population information at a high spatial resolution, although in more sparsely populated regions, their areal extents tend to be much larger, consisting of large open, unpopulated spaces. In California (CA), for example, blocks have an average land area of roughly 0.8 km 2 (~200 acres) and a population of about 75 people each, while block groups are roughly twenty times larger, both in average area and population. In non-decennial years, the finest scale estimates are made at the block group level, which are coarser than census blocks. In the U.S., the most granular spatial units of enumeration are census blocks, available in each decennial year (i.e. However, the ability to estimate fine-scale spatial distributions of populations in many prior studies has been limited to the spatial granularity of population estimates that are made available by public enumerating agencies, such as the U.S. Similarly, environmental justice and equity oriented research often evaluates the degree to which people of color and other socially disadvantaged populations live in closer proximity to environmental contaminants or hazards. For example, many public health studies in the United States (U.S.) seek to quantify the number of people residing near a potential environmental health hazard. Understanding the spatial distribution of human populations is integral to civic and land use planning, public policy design and various fields of academic research. A general accuracy assessment of the CA-POP dasymetric mapping methodology was conducted by producing a population grid that was constrained by population observations within block groups instead of blocks, enabling a comparison of this grid’s population apportionment to block-level census values, yielding a median absolute relative error of approximately 30% for block group-to-block apportionment. In comparison to a number of existing gridded population products, CA-POP shows good concordance and offers a number of benefits, including more recent data vintage, higher resolution, more accurate building footprint data, and in some cases more sophisticated but parsimonious and transparent dasymetric mapping methodologies. These layers constitute the ‘CA-POP’ dataset, and were produced using dasymetric mapping methods to downscale census block populations using fine-scale residential tax parcel boundaries and Microsoft’s remotely-sensed building footprint layer as ancillary datasets. This paper introduces a series of high resolution (100-meter) population grids for eight different sociodemographic variables across the state of California using data from the 2020 census. When you’re done with the eye itself, shade in the tones along the bottom lid using dark, soft strokes. It’s actually the key to making the staring cat eyes look lifelike and appealing and not like a zombie cat staring into your soul. It may be subtle, but this detail adds so much realism to your drawing. Start by shading the pupil, then add a shadow many first-time cat eye artistes might not think about: a cast shadow from the upper eyelid. When you’re happy with the basic sketch, begin shading with a 4B graphite pencil and a kneaded eraser. Awkward or uneven shapes become much more noticeable from this POV. Pro Tip: When the basic features are in place, rotate your drawing upside down to check for mistakes. Draw the cat’s pupils (these can range from skinny capsule-shaped lines to big, round, black circles) and lightly sketch in any highlights. Start blocking in the details - this is when it’s super important to pay close attention to your reference photo. When your lids are sketched, erase the excess circles above the top eyelids. You can draw more horizontal guidelines to make sure these corners are aligned. The inside corner of the eye is normally lower than the outside corner. The upper eyelid considerably covers the eye, while the lower lid curves around it (refer to the left eye in the image above). Remember to use light pencil strokes you’ll erase some of these marks as your drawing progresses.īegin with a circle, then turn your attention to the shape of the eyelids and how each covers the eyeball. Usually, the distance between the cat’s eyes is the equivalent of one eye - again, just like a human. Use the center vertical line to space the eyes apart. The eyes should go along a horizontal line halfway between the top of the head and the center horizontal guide. To place the eyes, divide the face in half vertically and horizontally. So, just as you would when drawing a human head, sketch out the placement of features using guidelines first. Cat EyesĮssentially, a cat’s eye has the same anatomy as a human’s: each eyeball sits back in the skull and is partially covered by the eyelids. Don’t be a scaredy cat - perfecting feline eyes is easy if you know how to tackle the task. Let’s be real: you can make the most gorgeous kitty drawing, but if you don’t get the eyes just right, the whole thing can look a bit off. You can also create a PDF version of a separate portfolio (illustration work, for example), post it somewhere online and send out a link when appropriate. If you're doing freelance work as a designer or illustrator, and/or selling designed products, create separate websites for those ventures. Those are very different goals and combining those elements into one website will confuse your audience by diluting your message (which should be "consider hiring me for your open design position"), which will lessen the likelihood of getting interviewed if not completely take you out of the running. In fact, I discourage anyone from trying to use the same website to find a full-time graphic design position that they're also using to get freelance work or to sell products featuring their designs. It also isn't meant for people who are using their online portfolio to get freelance clients. This overview isn't intended for experienced designers who are already working in the field. It's aimed at those looking for their first full-time design job and who are presenting a mix of student work, conceptual work for fictional clients done outside of school, and possibly real world freelance projects. I've put together some detailed thoughts as an attempt to remedy this. These mistakes hurt their chances of getting interviews and ultimately getting hired. After going through dozens of portfolios here and giving feedback on many of them, publicly and privately, as well as reviewing entry level design portfolios for my job for many years, it's clear that recent design graduates or others getting into graphic design for the first time are making some major and completely avoidable mistakes with the work they're presenting as well as the way they're presenting it. It will, however, continue to offer for support to those who contact the company for help, but the game as it exists today will remain unchanged going forward (with the exception of user-created mods). When support for the title ends, players will, of course, still be able to play it (and new players will still be able to purchase it), but EA will no longer release content or technical fixes for the game. There are eight expansion packs for The Sims 2, and they were published in this order: The Sims 2 University: March 2005. It’s been ten years since The Sims 2 first launched, and though EA is pulling the plug on official support for the title, it’s sending it out with one last hurrah, giving away the “ Ultimate Collection” version of the game, which contains all 18 expansion packs, absolutely free on Origin. The Sims 2 Free Download was one of those games that you just didn’t see coming. The expansion pack adds a new aging period to Sims which is Young Adult. In the event of a tie in any game, there must be a tiebreaker put into place to determine a sole winner of each match. So a 32 team tournament would have 63 total possible games, but if the winners bracket team wins the first game in the championship there would only be 62 games. If the team from the losers bracket wins that game, there must be a second game to decide the champion, as neither team would have lost two games yet.Ī quick calculation to figure the total number of games possible in a double elimination tournament, would be to double the number of teams, then subtract 1. If the team from the winners bracket wins this game, they are the champions. In the championship, you will have one team from the winners bracket that has not lost yet, playing a team from the losers bracket that has already lost one game. When viewing the bracket, you will see some dashed lines coming off of the championship game. The loser of game 1 in the winners bracket will drop down to L1 in the losers bracket, the loser of game 2 will drop down to game L2 etc. In the losers bracket you will also see L1, L2 etc. This is the order in which the games will be played. The 32 team double elimination bracket has the games numbered from 1 through 63. The tournament continues until there is only 1 team that hasn't lost two times. Once in the loser's bracket, the winning team advances to the next round and the loser is eliminated. The winner of each game in the winners bracket moves on to the next round and the loser drops down to the losers bracket. In a 32 team double elimination tournament, the teams compete in a bracket where every team must lose two times to be eliminated. The double elimination bracket above is in blind draw format. How does a 32 Team Double Elimination Bracket work? A seeded bracket is typically used when teams are ranked based on how well they finished during a season or a previous event. Tiebreaker rules can vary from each sport/game, so it is important to post clear tie-breaker rules before the start of the tournament.Ī blind draw bracket features teams that are randomly drawn and placed on the bracket in the order in which they are drawn. This format ensures that only one team from each match can advance to the next round. So a 16 team tournament would have 31 total possible games, but if the winners bracket team wins the first game in the championship there would only be 30 games. The 16 team double elimination bracket has the games numbered from 1 through 31. In a 16 team double elimination tournament, the teams compete in a bracket where every team must lose two times to be eliminated. How does a 16 Team Double Elimination Bracket work? We start with the standard form of a quadratic equation and solve it for x by completing the square. Now we will go through the steps of completing the square using the general form of a quadratic equation to solve a quadratic equation for x.
